Getting Started | Wireless Network Card Compatibility Guide

Every wireless network card has specific compatibility requirements. Refer to our guide below for eligibility, upgrade paths, and more. Please note that this information may not cover all scenarios and is not guaranteed. For the most accurate details, consult your computer's manual and/or the manufacturer. For assistance with setup, FAQs, and troubleshooting, please visit our support article.

Before You Begin, Please Ensure You Have the Following Technical Specifications:

  • Current Wireless Network Card/Adapter: Identify Your Intel® Wireless Adapter and Wi-Fi Driver Version by Intel.
  • Processor Model/Generation: Determine how to identify your Intel® processor and interpret its name by Intel.
  • Interface (M.2 NGFF / CNVio): More information on this topic is in development.
  • Operating System (OS): Find out which version of the Windows operating system you are using with help from Microsoft.

Important Compatibility Notes:

  • Compatibility generally depends on your system's processor/CPU, M.2 interface (including if your system requires CNVio), and operating system version.
  • CNVio version 1 (AC-9461, AC-9462, AC-9560) is not compatible with CNVio2 (AX201, AX211, AX411).
  • CNVio2 is not backward compatible with CNVio version 1.
  • The AC-9560 has no upgrade path and should not be replaced with AX201, AX211, or AX411 to avoid system failure.
  • Installing the wrong CNVio version card can lead to system boot failure.
  • Systems requiring CNVio (or CNVio2) typically do not support PCIe/NGFF (non-CNVio) modules like AC-9260, AX200, AX210.

Compatibility Chart:

Find your current wireless network card model in the Upgrade From column. Check system compatibility by ensuring it meets the processor, interface, and operating system requirements listed.

Compatibility Chart Notes:

  • Ensure your system meets the processor (CPU), interface, and OS requirements for each model.
  • Upgrading wireless network cards is generally possible as long as the new Wi-Fi model aligns with your system's processor, interface, and OS requirements.
