How To Install Wi-fi And Bluetooth Drivers On Windows 10/11

Troubleshooting | WiFi Card Not Working Properly

If your WiFi card isn't working properly, follow these steps to diagnose and fix the issue.

Step 1: Verify Driver Installation

  • Ensure Drivers are Up-to-Date: Check that you have installed the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers. You can find more on our WiFi & Bluetooth Drivers Install article.
  • Install Correct Drivers: Make sure you are using the correct drivers for your operating system. For Windows 10/11, use the 64-bit drivers.

Step 2: Check Physical Connections

  • Inspect Antenna Connections: Ensure both antennas are securely connected to the Wi-Fi card. They should click into place and not be loose.
  • Check for Damage: Look for any physical damage on the Wi-Fi card such as burn marks, scratches, or missing connectors.
  • Properly Seat the Card: Make sure the Wi-Fi card is fully seated in the slot and lies flat against the motherboard. If the card doesn't fit easily, you may have the wrong model.

Step 3: Confirm Compatibility

  • Review Compatibility: Verify your system’s compatibility with the Wi-Fi card by checking the support article on Wireless Network Card Compatibility.
  • M.2 Key Type: Ensure the Wi-Fi card matches your system's M.2 Key type (A, E, or B+M).

Step 4: OS and Firmware Updates

  • Update Operating System: Make sure your operating system is fully updated via Windows Update or your system’s update utility.
  • Firmware Updates: Check for and install any available firmware updates for your system.

Step 5: Restart Your System

  • Reboot After Installation: Restart your system after installing or reinstalling the drivers. This can resolve many issues.

Step 6: Troubleshoot Connection Issues

  • Check Wi-Fi Settings: Ensure your Wi-Fi is enabled in the system settings.
  • Network Configuration: Verify that your network configuration settings are correct and that you are connected to the right network.
  • Disable VPNs: If you’re using a VPN, disable it temporarily to see if it’s causing the connection issues.

Step 7: Additional Support

  • Manufacturer-Specific Drivers: If standard drivers don't work, you may need manufacturer-specific drivers. Visit the manufacturer’s website for support.
  • Refer to Intel’s Guide: If issues persist, refer to Intel’s troubleshooting guide for further steps.

Step 8: Contact Support

  • Reach Out for Help: If you’re still experiencing issues, contact your system manufacturer or visit our support page for assistance. Some manufacturers may restrict their systems to specific parts and drivers, so manufacturer support may be necessary.

Important Note:
Always handle your hardware with care. Operating your Wi-Fi adapter without both antennas connected may damage the adapter and reduce its lifespan.
